1965 F1 Season

The 1965 Formula One season, the 19th in the history of FIA Formula One racing, was a period of remarkable achievements and historic firsts. The season, which spanned from 1 January to 24 October, comprised the 16th World Championship of Drivers and the 8th International Cup for F1 Manufacturers, along with several non-championship Formula One races. It was marked by the dominance of Jim Clark, who secured his second championship title with six wins. His absence at the Monaco Grand Prix due to his participation in the Indianapolis 500 was the only interruption in his series of victories.

Notable among the season’s highlights was the impressive debut of Jackie Stewart, who finished third in the championship in his first season. Additionally, the season witnessed Richie Ginther securing his only Grand Prix win, which was also the first for Honda, in the final race of the 1.5-litre formula. This victory marked a significant milestone for both the driver and the manufacturer in the realm of Formula One racing.
