2010 F1 Season

The 2010 Formula One World Championship, marking the 64th season of FIA Formula One racing, witnessed the emergence of Red Bull Racing as a dominant force. Sebastian Vettel, driving for Red Bull, clinched the Drivers’ Championship, becoming the youngest World Champion in the history of the sport. His victory was sealed in a thrilling season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he overtook rivals including his teammate Mark Webber, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, and McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton in the championship standings. Red Bull also secured their first Constructors’ Championship, capping off a remarkable season with a 1-2 finish in Brazil.

The season was notable for several key changes and returns. Bridgestone’s final year as the sole tyre supplier marked the end of an era, with Pirelli set to take over in 2011. The points system was revised, offering more points to the top finishers, and the refuelling ban introduced a new strategic dimension to the races. The grid saw the return of the legendary Michael Schumacher with Mercedes, ending a three-year retirement. New teams like Lotus Racing, Virgin Racing, and HRT joined the grid, while Jenson Button moved to McLaren and Fernando Alonso joined Ferrari. The season spanned 19 races across 18 countries, starting in Bahrain and concluding in Abu Dhabi, showcasing a truly global sport in action.
