2017 F1 Season

The 2017 Formula One World Championship, the 71st season of Formula One motor racing, featured the 68th Formula One World Championship. It was a season of intense rivalry and marked the first genuine inter-team title battle in five years. The championship, consisting of twenty Grands Prix, started in Australia on 26 March and concluded in Abu Dhabi on 26 November. The season was notable for being the first since 1994 in which the reigning champion, Nico Rosberg, did not compete following his retirement.

Lewis Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, won his fourth World Drivers’ Championship title, finishing 46 points ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Valtteri Bottas, in his first year at Mercedes, finished third. Mercedes retained the Constructors’ Championship for the fourth consecutive year, with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing finishing second and third, respectively. The season was characterized by a resurgent Ferrari team challenging Mercedes, with Vettel leading the championship for the first 12 rounds. However, Ferrari’s challenge faltered towards the end of the season, allowing Hamilton to clinch the title at the Mexican Grand Prix with two races to spare. The 2017 season was a showcase of strategic battles, driver skill, and the rivalry between Mercedes and Ferrari.
