Early Years and Beginnings in Racing

Alan Stanley Jones, MBE, born on 2 November 1946 in Melbourne, Australia, was destined for a career in motorsport, being the son of Stan Jones, the winner of the 1959 Australian Grand Prix. Jones’ initial foray into racing began with a Mini and a Cooper while working at his father’s Holden dealership. Despite a setback with a testing accident at Brands Hatch, Jones persevered, competing in Formula Three and gradually building his reputation.
